Books I Liked About the Peace Corps
Dillon Banerjee: So You Want to Join the Peace Corps: What to Know Before You Go
Read it once when I was considering joining, then again once I had accepted an assignment. Pretty good advice in both situations.Hilary Liftin and Kate Montgomery: Dear Exile
This book was well written and gives a perspective of the Peace Corps from both a volunteer in Kenya and a friend back home. It is, however, depressing as all get out.Jason Carter: Power Lines
Grandson of Jimmy Carter writes about his service in post-apartheid South Africa. Very readable.Mike Tidwell: The Ponds of Kalambayi
Written by an aquaculture volunteer in Zaire. A bit dated (1990) but still an interesting read.Sarah Erdman: Nine Hills to Nambonkaha
